There are three ingredients that you should look for in your moisturizer. Having one of these in your lotion will give you moisturized skin and we all want to have soft and supple skin.
- Glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant which means it pulls water from the atmosphere into your skin. It can be heavy so is often found in body lotions.
- Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your skin and can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It is a wonder ingredient and many high quality moisturizers contain it.
- Ceramides. The skin’s natural lipid structure is made up of ceremides, which if the fat that traps water beneath the surface. Without ceramides our skin would dry and shrivel up.
Before I put on my moisturizer or night cream, I cleanse my face, then apply a hydrating mist and then put on my moisturizer. I find I have to use far less moisturizer when my face is damp. It also absorbs better.
