Green Tea Benefits for Skin

Spring is slowly approaching! What better way to unwind and relax on rainy days than with a hot glass of green tea….and green tea mask! There are so many benefits to drinking and wearing your tea. Make your skin a priority this spring by treating it to an antioxidant packed product that not only carries nutritional value, but clams to aid in preventing skin cancer!

According to Green tea, one of the healthiest beverages we can drink, has been associated with about a 30 percent reduction in breast cancer risk, and may protect against gynecological malignancies, such as ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer, as well as lower our cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, and body fat. It may also protect the brain from both cognitive decline and stroke. As well, tea consumption has been associated with decreased risk of diabetes, tooth loss, and up to half the risk of dying from pneumonia.

Green tea contains epigallocatechin gallate, better known as EGCG. This antioxidant helps fight the damage done to our skin and bodies caused from the sun, pollution, and harmful chemicals. It’s said to counteract the cellular damage and kickstart your body’s natural ability to defend itself. What does this mean? Slowing down the aging process!

Regardless, make sure you are still applying sunscreen on a daily basis! 😉

Can your stress show up in your skin? Absolutely! We all have busy lives, but always remember to make time for YOU! Take time to relax, breath, and drink your green tea.

Not getting enough sleep? Don’t let it show! Take a couple of cold tea bags and place them over your eyes for about 5-10 minutes. The antioxidants will help shrink blood vessels and reduce swelling.
