Additional Uses for Aloe Vera

It’s been a HOT summer! Had any accidental burns? As we all know, the go-to product for such incidents is none other than: aloe vera.

Referred to by the ancient Egyptians as the “plant of immortality”, aloe vera has been known to have many benefits (external and internal) for centuries! If you’ve ever used post sunburn, you know the cooling sensation is comforting and helps take the edge off the initial pain of the burn. A true healer, it replenishes the moisture and nutritional qualities lost from being in the sun much longer than you should of been. SHAME.

If you don’t burn that often, the bottle of aloe vera stored away under your sink can still be put to good use! Because of all the amazing nutrients the plant contains – folks having been using it to repair dead skin cells found on the scalp, jumpstart weight loss, reduce blemishes, breakouts, and assist with digestion.

Let’s start with: WHAT exactly is aloe vera made of?

Naturally Contains:

  • Vitamins A, B, C, D and E
  • Vitamin B12 (one of the few plants to contain this nutrient!)
  • Minerals: calcium, copper, selenium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and zinc
  • Anti-Inflammatories: campesterol, beta-sitosterol and lupeol

WHAT are the other uses for aloe vera?

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY – Yes! Let’s say you fall and scrape your knee or accidentally cut your finger while dicing vegetables. Use aloe vera as an antibacterial until you can get additional medical supplies.

MOISTURIZER –  If you’ve been having a hard time finding a moisturizer that works for you skin, this could be worth a try! Although you may like the make-up products you’re using, they could be drying out your skin – causing acne and irritation. For most, this product does NOT leave an oily/greasy residue.

AFTERSHAVE – For men AND women. Remember that aloe vera is a healing product! Whenever and wherever we shave, the blades create tiny cuts in our skin that provide a place for bacteria to grow. Applying a thin layer of aloe vera gel post shave will soothe and jumpstart the skin’s healing process.

ANTI-AGING – Many of the vitamins found in aloe vera are also linked to improving the firmness and elasticity in our skin. The more hydrated and firm your skin appears, the less visible the fine lines and wrinkles become.

SMOOTHIE INGREDIENT –  An ingredient I wouldn’t of thought to add! But considering all it’s natural vitamins, minerals and being linked to aiding digestion – this is not a bad idea.
