Men’s Holiday Party Prep

The holidays are here! Time to gather ‘round with friends, family, coworkers, people you only see once a year, and the people you wish you didn’t have to see once a year. Are you headed home to see your loved ones? Meeting your significant other’s entire clan for the first time? Well, fear not! We have some tips and tricks on how to look your very best during party season.

Men don’t have to be concerned with finding a slimming dress, lipstick to match the dress, getting their hair touched up, or nails done – but most still want to look presentable. So this time around, take a long look in the mirror and decide what could use a little TLC. Even if your holiday plans simply involve wearing an adult onesie, sitting around the fire and Christmas tree….with your parents.

TRIM YOUR BEARD. This is major! A full face of facial hair has been trending for awhile now, and is not as simple to maintain as our father’s 80s mustaches. You may think your wild beard makes you look courageous and manly, but to others you look like a Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Frontier) wannabe. Although, on second thought…that may not be a bad thing.

Regardless. If you’re invited to an elegant holiday party or expected to take family photos, it’s time to shape it up!

TIP 1: Wash and condition. I’ve heard a lot of fellas say they simply use lather from a bar of soap to wash their beard. No wonder it’s so hard to trim! Invest in conditioner. It will detangle and soften your hair, which will make the rest of the process much easier.

TIP 2: When brushing and/or combing your beard, be sure to go against the grain. This makes it easier to trim as well as highlights inconsistencies in the current length.

DON’T BE CRUSTY. LIP BALM. It saves lives! This product does NOT have to be fancy or expensive. If you’re hoping to catch your crush under the mistletoe, the very last thing you want is to lay your parched smackers on her!

AGAIN, DON’T BE CRUSTY. EXFOLIATE. Yes! Men exfoliate too. The weather this time of year is very dry and takes a toll on everyone’s skin. Start exfoliating 2-3 times a week in the shower – followed by your every day moisturizer. It’s an extra step we all hate committing to, but removing those dead skin cells will give you a fresh and clean look! See below for a couple of our favorite exfoliators.
