ACV Scalp Cleanse

Follow

Have you hopped on the apple cider vinegar train? The benefits are endless! In this post, we will be discussing the effects of using ACV as a scalp cleanse. If you’re like me and trying to wash your hair less (which means using more dry shampoo) you’ve started to notice the itchy, irritating build up of product.

Commonly known foremost as a health food product, ACV is made from apples using a fermentation process. During this process, it’s enhanced with protein molecules, acids, enzymes and potassium. What do people suggest when you want healthy looking, long hair? POTASSIUM!

SIDE NOTE

Here are some of the additional ACV benefits according to Bragg:

  • Support a healthy immune system
  • Helps control weight
  • Promotes digestion & ph Balance
  • Helps soothe dry throats
  • Helps remove body sludge toxins
  • Helps maintain healthy skin
  • Helps promote youthful, healthy bodies
  • Soothes irritated skin
  • Relieves muscle pain from exercise

Having healthy, shiny, and beautiful hair means first maintaining a happy scalp! How does one’s scalp become unhappy? Fungi and bacteria that clog the hair follicle. Between that gross sentence and our everyday stresses, it’s actually pretty easy for a scalp to become agitated. From dry weather, using the wrong hair products, to not drying hair to completion…like skin care, scalp care can be a lot of work!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • apple cider vinegar (Bragg’s is a popular choice – can be found in most grocery stores)
  • water
  • honey or aloe vera juice (if you are looking to sooth a dry, itchy scalp)
  • spray bottle
  • shower cap
  • comb (for parting hair)

HOW TO:

Step 1: Dilute the ACV with the water. This is important, as most people using ACV as a scalp cleanse are suggesting as much as half and half. So let’s say about half a cup of ACV and half a cup of water. Also mix in the honey, etc. at this time.

Step 2: Mix all ingredients well before pouring into spray bottle.

Step 3: Part hair in different sections, while throughly spraying ACV mixture.

***folks with sensitive, easily agitated skin should try a small amount of mixture on skin before spraying all over the scalp***

Step 4: Place shower cap on head and let hair sit for about 20 – 30 minutes.

Step 5: Rinse hair with cold water – then shampoo/condition as normal.

Step 6: Dry and style hair as normal.
